Mariners Park Care Home – Balcony Balustrade

A project based on the Wirral based at a nursing and care home in Wallasey, which houses former seafarers and their dependants in 32 bedrooms split over 4 ‘households’. One of the main features for this facility is the large communal lounge and conservatory featuring a viewing deck overlooking the river.

A former resident left the care home a legacy in their will, which stipulated that the viewing deck be refurbished, removing the galvanised steel railing and replace these frameless glazed balustrade. Following site surveys and modelling concept designs, we came up with a design that was finally approved in December 2017.

Following reviewing various possible designs the most suitable and most effective solution was the Base Mount Mini Post Balustrade. We also looked at replacing a galvanised steel Juliet Balcony to match the design of the balcony railing. A frameless Juliet Balcony was chosen and the design was manufactured and installed last year. The Mini Post Balustrade Solution is now currently being manufactured for an early spring install.

The chosen design enabled the irregular design of the deck area to be enhanced. With the removal of timber upright posts, the Mini Post will be easily installed into the exiting steel framework. This will enhance the communal area allowing all residents to enjoy the outdoor space, and the views of the River Mersey and the City of Liverpool beyond.

Our design team created rendered images of the finished look prior going to manufacture. This showed our client the solution chosen would look. We also created rendered designs of the chosen Juliet Balcony used on the project. Comparing the before images and concept designs we all look forward to seeing the photos of completed project.
