Statement about the potential impact of Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
Today we have held a contingency planning meeting to proactively prepare for the potential impact of Covid-19 affecting our production workforce. We already have plans and infrastructure in place for remote working, if necessary, for our office-based estimating and inside sale team.
We have put measures in place to protect the health and well-being of all our staff which will be outlined below. In addition to this we have taken steps to ensure continuity of supply for our customers.
Firstly, in order to ensure the health and safety of all our staff we will not be accepting any visitors to site for a period of two weeks from Thursday 19th March unless in exceptional circumstances. This is a precaution to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus in line with government recommendations. the guidelines are as follows: https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response
To mitigate risks from our supply chain we have taken steps to increase our stock holding and have engaged our key suppliers to ensure they have adequate contingency plans in place to support us. Whilst the vast majority of our raw material comes from the UK we do buy products and materials from overseas and I would encourage our customers to place forward orders for your anticipated requirements over the next 4-8 weeks so we can ensure we have sufficient stock.
Can I encourage all our customers to notify us of any changes to your delivery schedules or conditions so that we can take the necessary precautions and inform our transport partners.
Those customers who can commit to firm purchase orders will be given priority in our scheduling. We would appreciate as much visibility and notice as you can give under these circumstances.
Please be assured that we believe we have put all the relevant contingency plans in place based on the most recent government advice and we will continue to monitor the situation.
